NEW DELHI: Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat on Saturday visited several air bases located in forward areas near the Line of Actual Control in Arunachal Pradesh and took stock of India s overall security scenario in the eastern sector, official sources said.
They said General Rawat interacted with Army, ITBP and soldiers of the Special Frontier Force (SFF) deployed in the bases including in Dibang Valley and Lohit sector of Arunachal Pradesh.
He praised the high morale of the troops and expressed confidence that those fighting the Indian defence forces will be destroyed, they said.
The Chief of Defence Staff also complimented the soldiers for the innovative measures adopted to maintain effective surveillance and enhanced operational readiness, they said.

New Delhi, Jan 02: Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat on Saturday visited forward military bases along the China border in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. The visit comes on a day Rawat completed one year in office, Chief of Defence Staff.
Speaking at the occasion, Rawat said nothing can deter the Indian Armed Forces on remaining steadfast in their call for duty.

After witnessing measures adopted by troops to maintain effective surveillance and enhanced operational readiness, General Rawat said, Only Indian soldiers could remain vigilant under such challenging situations ever willing to go beyond the call of duty to safeguard the borders.

Colonel Kumar, 87, passed away on Thursday at the Army Research and Referral Hospital due to several age-related ailments. On the demise of Colonel Narendra Kumar popularly known to us as Bull Kumar, we convey our condolences to the bereaved family. A soldier whose grit, determination and yearning to scale the high mountain peaks led to discoveries that have helped the Army reach out to and occupy locations that have helped us in strengthening our defensive posture, Gen Rawat said.
China deployed underwater drones in Indian Ocean: Report

New Jersey: China has deployed a fleet of underwater drones called Sea Wing (Haiyi) glider in the Indian Ocean, which can operate for months on end and make observations for naval intelligence purposes, according to defence analyst HI Sutton.
Writing for the Forbes magazine, Sutton said that these sea gliders, which the Chinese are deploying “en masse”, are a type of Uncrewed Underwater Vehicle (UUV) which were launched in mid-December 2019 and recovered in February after making over 3,400 observations.
Citing the government sources, Sutton in his report said that these gliders are similar to those deployed by the US Navy, one of which was seized by Beijing in 2016 to ensure “safe navigation of passing ships.”
