Minister of National Security meets with Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force leadership
Port of Spain: Minister of National Security the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds M.P. met today, Tuesday May 18, 2021, with the leadership of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) to hear first-hand about the issues affecting members of the Regiment, Coast Guard, Air Guard and Reserves. The meeting took place at the Ministry of National Security Head Office, Abercromby Street, Port of Spain.
Both parties welcomed the opportunity to meet to discuss matters of critical importance and propose measures to resolve issues requiring urgent attention.
Minister Hinds assured Chief of Defence Staff Air Vice Marshal Darryl Daniel and his team that he would advance efforts aimed at providing the TTDF with the required resources to effectively execute their mandate. Defence Force troops return home from St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Port of Spain: Fifty (50) members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) returned to Trinidad and Tobago today, Saturday May 01, 2021 after being deployed on Tuesday April 13, 2021 to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines following the eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano.
Some of TTDF troops arrived at the Inter-Island Ferry Terminal in Port of Spain on board the Galleons Passage at approximately 12:00 noon and were welcomed home by Minister of National Security the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds M.P. and Chief of Defence Staff Air Vice Marshall Darryl Daniel. The other troops arrived at Staubles Bay, Chaguaramas, aboard the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard vessel the TTS Brighton.

Defence Force personnel depart for St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Port of Spain: Fifty (50) members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) departed Trinidad and Tobago this morning, Tuesday April 13, 2021 to provide humanitarian and relief assistance to St. Vincent and the Grenadines following the eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano.
Officials comprising personnel from Engineers, infantry/provost, medical and logistics left on board the Galleons Passage at approximately 7:00 a.m. They will be stationed in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for two weeks, in the first instance.
Representatives from the Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross Society; the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA); and members of the media also departed on the Galleons Passage.

The two most senior officers of the Defence Force have been promoted by President Paula-Mae Weekes.
A statement from the Ministry of National Security said Chief of Defence Staff Darryl Daniel has been promoted to Air Vice Marshall and the commanding officer of the regiment Dexter Francis was promoted to Brigadier General and appointed as the Vice Chief of Defence Staff.
