USDA awards Emory-Conservation Fund partnership, the Working Farms Fund, $4 8 million | Emory University

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded $4.8 million to the Working Farms Fund to boost support for next-generation farmers in Georgia and create a more resilient food system across metro Atlanta. The Working Farms Fund, an initiative supported by a first-of-its-kind partnership between The Conservation Fund and Emory University, acquires and permanently protects farmland, helping farmers who would not have the means to purchase the land at full market price. Building on a previous USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service grant, the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) award will provide easement funding and technical assistance for the Working Farms Fund’s program over the next five years.

USDA invests $330M to address climate change

Jun 15, 2021 to Jun 17, 2021 USDA is investing $330 million in 85 locally driven, public-private partnerships to address climate change, improve the nation’s water quality, combat drought, enhance soil health, support wildlife habitat and protect agricultural viability. Projects are awarded through the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). “The Regional Conservation Partnership Program is public-private partnerships working at their best,” said NRCS Acting Chief Terry Cosby. “These new projects will harness the power of partnerships to help bring about solutions to natural resource concerns across the country while supporting our efforts to combat the climate crisis.” Through RCPP, conservation partners work in collaboration with NRCS to help farmers, ranchers and forest landowners to implement systems that conserve water and soil resources, improve the health of wildlife habitats and increase climate resilience
