Bob Hope USO at LAX visits California National Guard troops at Cal State Los Angeles

On March 4, 2021, volunteers from the Bob Hope USO at LAX visited California National Guard troops serving on the campus of California State University, Los Angeles, in support of the COVID-19 community vaccination center on campus. The volunteers visited the campus to distributed goods that help promote the morale and welfare of the troops. US Army Lt. Col. George Burchuck, 1st Battalion, 144th Field Artillery, California National Guard, and US Air Force Maj. Matt Redmond, 129th Rescue Wing, California Air National Guard, helped distribute coffee. Prior to distribution, the troops were briefed by US Army Major Leroy Cisneros, an officer with the 40th Infantry Division, California National Guard. The headquarters for the 40th Infantry Division is at Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos.

It was on the South Range training area aboard the Schofield barracks on Oahu, Hawaii, within a simulated town as part of the exercise Steel Crucible, an Army-led exercise that saw Marines and soldiers fight against each other and work side-by-side in an island-hopping campaign against the fictional nation and near-peer threat called Torbia.
