Main Battle Tank Arjun Mark1A (Photo/ANI) Defence Ministry all set to clear over Rs 6,000 cr Arjun Mark 1A tank for Army ANI | Updated: Feb 23, 2021 12:38 IST New Delhi [India], February 23 ANI): Days after Prime MinisterNarendra Modi dedicated the Main Battle Tank Arjun Mark1A to the nation, the Defence Ministry on Tuesday is all set to clear the acquisition of these tanks worth over Rs 6,000 crore by the Army. The Defence Ministry had recently cleared the induction of 118 Arjun Mark1A tanks into the Indian Army. The Defence Ministry will consider the proposal in the Defence Acquisition Council meeting to be held in presence of the Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and Army chief Gen Manoj Mukund Naravane, defence sources told ANI.

DAC approves acquisition proposals worth Rs 13,700 cr for armed forces

The acquisitions include various weapons, platforms and equipment systems for the armed forces. Three Acceptance of Necessities (AoNs) for an overall cost of Rs 13,700 crore were accorded. All these AoNs are in the highest priority category of Defence Acquisition, the release noted. All these acquisition proposals will be indigenously designed, developed and manufactured. These will include inter-alia platforms and systems designed and developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The DAC, under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, also approved that all capital acquisition contracts (delegated and non-delegated) other than D&D cases shall be concluded in two years.
