Norwich GenCyber camps receive $170K NSA/NSF grant, registration deadline May 14

Related Company:  Vermont Business Magazine Norwich University has earned two grants totaling more than $187,000 from the National Security Agency (NSA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) to host two virtual cybersecurity summer camps. These comprehensive programs, free to all participants, will be taught by standout Norwich faculty and students including Director of the Center for Cybersecurity and Forensics Education and Research Professor Dr. Huw Read. The application deadline is May 14. The two grants were awarded in 2020 and deferred until now because of the coronavirus pandemic. They are: $88,047.79 for GenCyber@NU and $98,962.49 for GenCyberForensics@NU. GenCyber@NU, for the CyberSecurious, running June 28 to July 2, is in its sixth year and is all about understanding cyber basics, good cyber hygiene, and protecting yourself online. The 29-year-old works as a security engineer at Amazon in Texas. When the Covid-19 outbreak first hit the southern state, he was ordered to work from home where, each morning, he would conduct an online meeting with a group of security experts. During one of these meetings in early April, Chi was congratulated by a colleague after his name appeared on the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3) website.

Five UC Cybersecurity Degrees Rank Among Top National Programs

Utica College ranks in top 43 among more than 2,000 institutions Utica College (UC) has been recognized for five of its programs that ranked in the top percentage on a national scale. The ratings were provided by Intelligent.com, placing UC in the top 43 among 2,277 institutions for all five programs. The recognition was given to three masters programs and two bachelors programs, all pertaining to cybersecurity specializations. The master of cybersecurity computer forensics program ranked the highest, coming in 17th place nationally. According to its website, Intelligent.com uses an unbiased rating scale based on the quality of the curriculum, the graduation rate, and post-graduate employment, as well as student engagement and pricing. The scale is designed to help future students decide what program will work best for them, and help make the college decision process easier.
