Samaritan officials say improvement rating over previous year shows dedication to provide best community care

WATERTOWN â Samaritan Medical Center officials said the hospitalâs recent four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services annual survey reflects its commitment to providing the best quality care for the community. Samaritan announced Thursday that it had received a four-star rating from the Medicare and Medicaid Services group in its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings, an improvement upon last yearâs three-star rating. The Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating encompasses more than 50 inpatient and outpatient measures across five areas of quality into a single star rating, between one and five, for each hospital. The five areas include mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience and timely and effective care. This rating corresponds with data Samaritan submitted to CMS in October 2020.

Thirty kilometres of Richmond-Winton Road to be sealed

Minister for Transport and Main Roads The Honourable Mark Bailey A $24 million upgrade is under way to widen and seal more than 30 kilometres of the Richmond-Winton Road. The upgrade will also and replace key structures, including culverts, and improve road safety and travel times on the key regional connector, as part of an $364.68 million Australian Government to enable the fast roll-out of safety treatments on roads across Queensland. This includes $5.39 million to seal additional sections of the Richmond-Winton Road, helping reduce deaths and serious injuries as part of the $3 billion nationwide Road Safety Program. The investment also includes $16.3 million committed to boost delivery of immediate benefits to the regional economy while providing long-lasting infrastructure capable of supporting growth well into the future.

According to Samaritan Chief Executive Officer Thomas H. Carman, the hospitalâs Quality and Safety Program includes a comprehensive review of more than 30 quality and safety indicators, each having set targets that they strive to achieve.
