British Pakistani woman found murdered in Lahore

LAHORE: A 25-year-old British Pakistani woman was found murdered at a house in an upscale neighbourhood of Lahore, the police said on Tuesday.
According to Geo News, the police said the woman, identified as Mahira Zulfiqar, was strangled and shot. A criminal complaint has been registered against four people, including two men believed to be Mahira’s friends. The complaint said the woman was killed allegedly by her friends, adding that one of the suspects wanted to marry her.
Mahira Zulfiqar had come to Pakistan from the UK two months ago and was staying at a house in Lahore’s Defence Housing Authority locality. The victim’s parents and siblings live in London, while her grandmother lives in Pakistan.
DHA residents caught in misery as water supply ‘halted without notice’

The water supply to the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) has been disrupted since Saturday night due to which residents of the area are in extreme misery in Ramazan.
According to details shared by the CBC, the water supply has been halted by the Karachi Water Supply Board (KWSB). The water supply has been discontinued without any prior information, due to which residents of Defense Housing Authority (DHA) and several Katchi Abadis are facing difficulties.
The CBC’s executive officer said that due to the disruption of the water supply in the limits of the CBC, the residents were in extreme misery. He said a major water crisis had occurred in the area.
450 moreshops sealed in District South over SOP violations

Around 450 shops were sealed late on Sunday night and on Monday as the District South administration took action on the directions of Karachi Commissioner Navid Shaikh against violations of the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
According to the details shared by the District South deputy commissionerâs office, several shopping centres, shops and marts were sealed by the administration over violations of the Covid-19 SOPs exercising the powers under Section 3(1) of the Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act 2014.
Assistant Commissioner of Saddar Town, Shanira Junejo, during her visit to the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase-II with the Pakistan Army, sealed the Gold Mark II shopping centre, which comprises as many as 330 different shops, for violating the Covid-19 SOPs on Monday.

Lahore [Pakistan], May 4 (ANI): A 25-year-old Pakistani-origin British woman was found dead at her friend s residence in Lahore s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Mahira Zulfiqar, who had arrived in Pakistan from the United Kingdom two months ago and was staying at the upper portion of a bungalow in Lahore DHA with her friend, reported Geo News.
The police informed that the victim was strangled and shot. A domestic worker found her body around 12 in the afternoon.
Preliminary inquiries have so far not found any evidence suggesting abuse or resistance to a robbery.
