Thackeray got himself vaccinated against the novel coronavirus disease under the second phase of the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive. The Central government has, starting March 1, expanded the vaccination drive to include people above the age of 60 and those aged 45 or above and having specified co-morbidities. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 situation continues to remain worrisome in Maharashtra, with the state witnessing a continuous surge in cases triggering fears of a second wave.

Representative image  |  Photo Credit: PTI Mumbai: Amidst a spurt in COVID-19 cases, the Maharashtra government has imposed a night curfew in two more districts – Kalyan-Dombivli and Nandurbar - in the state. The authorities took a decision after Kalyan-Dombivli recorded 392 new coronavirus positive cases on Tuesday. While issuing the order, the Kalyan-Dombivli district administration said that the Shiva temple in the area will not be open for devotees on the occasion of Shivratri on March 11. As per the order issued by Kalyan-Dombivli municipal commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi, shops will be permitted to remain open for five days from 7 am till 7 pm from Thursday onwards. Shops will be allowed to operate on an alternate day basis on Saturday and Sunday.
