249 COVID-19-related deaths, 24,638 new cases
The Capital reported 249 COVID-19-related deaths and 24,638 new cases in the past 24 hours, according to a health bulletin released by the Delhi government on Wednesday.
The total number of deaths went up to 12,887 and cases to 9,30,179.
A total of 78,768 tests were done in a day, the bulletin said, which is less than Tuesday’s by 8.96%. Last week, on many more than one lakh tests were done in a day.
The positivity of new cases was 31.28%, which means more than 31 out of 100 people taking the test are now COVID-19 positive.
Of the total cases, 8,31,928 people have recovered and there are 85,364 active cases.

Covid numbers in Delhi spiraling, the Arvind Kejriwal government has attached banquet halls, schools and sports complexes to hospitals to increase the number of beds. A Delhi government order said, 875 new beds will be available due to this move.
The list of hospitals which have gained extra space this way includes Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Hospital, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.

New Delhi [India], April 14 (ANI): In view of the surge in COVID-19 cases in the national capital, the Delhi government has added 718 new COVID-reserved beds in 11 hospitals.
This is the fourth time the Delhi government has increased the number of beds in hospitals in the last 15 days.
The total number of COVID-reserved beds in these hospitals has gone up to 5,221.
The number of ICU beds and ventilators have also been increased in hospitals.
There were 628 ventilators in these hospitals and 28 more ventilators have been added.
With the addition of 187 ICU beds, the total number of ICU beds in the national capital will reach 874.
