Kafeel Khan, a Gorakhpur doctor and whistleblower who was arrested twice by the Uttar Pradesh government and has emerged as a symbol of resistance against State oppression, on Sunday urged Bengal’s voters not to fall prey to the “gimmicks of the fascists”.
Speaking from Delhi, Khan sought to remind Bengal’s people ahead of the last two phases of the Assembly polls how the BJP governments at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh had failed to provide basic healthcare to citizens.
“In UP there is anarchy. There is no governance. I just want to tell the people of Bengal that their state is a pillar,” Khan told The Telegraph.

In the backdrop of Gorakhpur s BRD Medical college tragedy, the Delhi government is also set to hold a key meeting regarding stocks of oxygen cylinders and life-saving drugs in the government hospitals.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal will chair the meeting which will be held on August 16.
At least 70 children died in the state-run Baba Raghav Das Medical College since the past two days.

In a heart wrenching incident in which at least 64 children have died over the last five days at the state-run Baba Raghav Das Medical College and Hospital after supply of oxygen cylinders to the hospital was disrupted. Following this a private company has provided over 200 cylinders despite having no contract or tender with the hospital.
