U.S. prosecutors want 'special master' to review Giuliani evidence

U.S. prosecutors want special master to review Giuliani evidence By Jan Wolfe and Karen Freifeld Reuters WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. prosecutors on Tuesday asked a judge to create a process for reviewing evidence seized from the home and office of Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump s former lawyer, as part of a probe into his business dealings in Ukraine. In a court filing, federal prosecutors asked U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken in Manhattan to appoint a special master to review communications taken from Giuliani s devices and ensure that potentially privileged materials are not viewed by investigators. A special master is typically a respected lawyer, like a retired judge, given the responsibility of reviewing evidence and making recommendations about how it should be handled. The process is intended to protect the confidentiality of discussions between lawyers and their clients for the legitimate purpose of seeking legal advice.

Alan Dershowitz slams FBI raid of Giuliani's home and compares US to 'banana republics'

Print this article Lawyer Alan Dershowitz slammed the FBI’s raid of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s home, likening the United States to “banana republics.” “In banana republics, in Castro‘s Cuba, in many parts of the world when a candidate loses for president, they go after the candidate, they go after his lawyers, they go after his friends,” Dershowitz said in a podcast interview with host John Catsimatidis on Sunday. “That’s happening in America now. They’re going after Rudy Giuliani,” he continued. The FBI raided Giuliani s Manhattan home and office last Wednesday, investigating whether he illegally lobbied the Trump administration on behalf of Ukrainian officials.

Giuliani claims 'Trump derangement syndrome' is behind FBI raids

Print this article Rudy Giuliani said he is being framed by federal authorities who are suffering from Trump derangement syndrome after his home and office were raided last week. The onetime personal lawyer to former President Donald Trump has denied any wrongdoing after FBI agents raided properties belonging to the former New York City mayor on Wednesday, seizing electronic devices as part of an investigation into his business dealings. They are beyond the ability to control their rational thinking or their decency, and they have a serious, serious ethical issue, driven by Trump derangement syndrome, Giuliani told Fox News of the investigators.
