Funding will continue until June but discussions are now underway on who is going to pick up the tab if a pending grant application is rejected.
One thing is for sure, it won’t be the City of Quesnel.
Mayor Bob Simpson…
“It is not our program, we do not distribute these needles, it is Northern Health that distributes the needles and other agencies and it’s BC Housing that facilitates that, and they should be picking up the tab for picking them up.”

Quesnel City Council will dip into its Capital Reinvestment Fund to pay for some unexpected repairs to four local roads.
Matt Thomas is the Director of Public Works.
“Abbott Drive, Flamingo/Perry Street, Wilkinson Avenue, Tingley Drive and Twan Avenue. After the winter season the above mentioned roads have broken down to a point where driver safety is a concern. Although these roads have been discussed for future repairs it became apparent that these repairs could not wait.”

Bob Simpson addressed the issue at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, adding that he had spoken with Transportation Minister Rob Flemming earlier in the day.
“They will be deploying emergency resources to our area, and particularly the roads around Quesnel, both equipment and personnel, and they are expediting the geotechnical engineering review of some of the main ones that have become problematic.”
Simpson also noted that the Minister was hoping to visit the region some time in June.

WWNY County fair organizers ask: What about us? By Lexi Bruening | April 26, 2021 at 4:40 PM EDT - Updated April 26 at 9:26 PM
WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - When Governor Cuomo announced there will be a state fair this year, local fair organizers perked up, asking about the fate of county fairs.
While the future of the state fair is clearer, county fair organizers are still in the dark about 2021.
“We want some guidance,” said Bob Simpson, president, Jefferson County Fair.
Cuomo came out with guidance earlier on Monday for the state fair when he announced “the fair must go on.”
