Airtel Africa plc a subsidiary company of Bharti Airtel Limited has announced Olusegun Segun Ogunsanya, Managing Director and CEO Nigeria is to succeed Raghunath “Raghu” Mandava, as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer following Raghu Mandava’s informing the Board of his intention to retire.
Segun Ogunsanya will join the Board of Airtel Africa plc with effect from 1 October 2021. Segun Ogunsanya joined Airtel Africa in 2012 as Managing Director and CEO Nigeria and has been responsible for the overall management of our operations in Nigeria, company s largest market in Africa. Segun has more than 25 years’ business management experience in banking, consumer goods and telecoms.

1 – Millicom International Cellular S.A. (“Millicom”) announces that it has signed agreements for the sale of its operations in Tanzania and for its stake in the AirtelTigo joint venture in Ghana. Once closed, the transactions will complete Millicom’s multi-year plan to divest its African operations and focus on its Latin America markets.
In Tanzania, Millicom has agreed to sell its entire operations to a consortium led by Axian, a pan-African group that was part of the consortium that acquired Millicom’s operations in Senegal in 2018.
In Ghana, Millicom along with its joint venture partner, Bharti Airtel Limited, have signed a definitive agreement for the transfer of AirtelTigo to the Government of Ghana. Millicom will take a $25 million charge as a result of this agreement.

Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries telecom arm Reliance Jio reported a 47 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 3,508 crore on a consolidated basis in the January-March quarter of the financial year 2020-21, compared to Rs 2,379 crore in the corresponding period last year. According to a regulatory filing by the company to the BSE on Friday, April 30, the Jio Platform s revenue from operations stood at Rs 18,278 crore in the March quarter marking a growth of 18 per cent, compared to Rs 15,373 crore in the same period last year.
