The talks between the protesting farmers unions and the central government remained deadlocked even in the 10th round of the talks on Wednesday. Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar however said the talks were held in a cordial environment even though there were some naram-garam (heated) moments.
The two sides decided to meet again on Friday after the union leaders hold their own internal consultations on Thursday to decide on the government s new proposal.

Yielding some ground to end the nearly two-month-long protest by thousands of farmers on the National Capital borders, the Centre on Wednesday proposed to suspend the three contentious farm laws for one and a half years, and set up a committee to look into the future course of action over the legislations. The proposal was made during the tenth round of talks between the two sides.
