Barrackpore MLA Shilbhadra Dutta resigned from the Trinamool Congress on Friday in the third major exit from the party in the last two days.
Dutta, a two-term MLA, said he has sent the resignation letter to Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee by email, triggering speculations that he may join a long list of party leaders who have either joined the BJP or is willing to ahead of the assembly elections, likely in March-April. I think that I am unfit in the party in the present scenario. But, I will not resign as an MLA, he told reporters.

SC asks Modi govt to explore possibility of putting 3 farm laws on hold

New Delhi, Dec 17: The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Central government to explore the possibility of putting on hold the three farm laws, against which farmers are protesting at different borders of the national capital.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde asked Attorney General KK Venugopal if the government can assure the court that it will not take any executive action on implementation of the law till the court hears the matter. What kind of executive action? Farmers will not come for discussion if this happens, Venugopal said. To this, the CJI said it is to enable the discussion.
