New Delhi [India], August 11 (ANI): The government plans to complete privatisation of Air India and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) this year, Tuhin Kant Pandey, Secretary at the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) said on Wednesday.
The government will also completely exit from Paradeep Phosphates Ltd, which underwent disinvestment in 2002 and in which the government still holds some residual stake.
Demand for petroleum products in India declined substantially in April and May 2020 following a nationwide lockdown to control the spread of coronavirus. This led to a drop in capacity utilisation for most refiners in the fiscal year that ended on March 31 (FY21).
