Oil and Gas stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Oil&Gas index increasing 168.65 points or 1.08% at 15797.07 at 09:49 IST. Among the components of the S&P BSE Oil&Gas index, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 3.23%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 2.8%),GAIL (India) Ltd (up 2.07%),Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 1.66%),Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (up 1.29%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Indraprastha Gas Ltd (up 0.91%), Castrol India Ltd (up 0.56%), Petronet LNG Ltd (up 0.48%), and Reliance Industries Ltd (up 0.36%). On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (down 0.53%), turned lower.
At 09:49 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 373.95 or 0.76% at 49128.46.
Central government makes up for Rs 32.98 per litre of the price of petrol in Delhi and sales tax or VAT of the state government constitutes Rs 19.55.
For diesel, the central excise adds up to Rs 31.83 and VAT to Rs 10.99. Besides, the price also includes a dealer commission of a minimum Rs 2.6 per litre on petrol and Rs 2 on diesel.
Petrol and diesel prices are revised on a daily basis in line with benchmark international price and foreign exchange rates.

The volume in the stock stood at 58.32 lakh shares today, compared to the daily average of 87.76 lakh shares in last one month.
PESB picks Arun Kumar Singh as next CMD of BPCL

His selection will have to be ratified by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet led by prime minister Narendra Modi.
The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), the government’s head-hunter, has picked Arun Kumar Singh as the chairman and managing director of state-run oil refining and marketing firm Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL).
Arun Kumar Singh is currently director, marketing at BPCL and holding additional charge of Director, Refineries.
PESB picked Singh from a shortlist of six candidates that included five from BPCL and one from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL).
