Ellen Haygood Phillips
Ellen Haygood Phillips, 73, born Greenville, AL, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 15, 2021, due to COVID-19.
She received a BS degree from Troy (AL) University, a Masters degree from Auburn University, and a Post-Masters degree from the University of Virginia. After teaching a decade in AL, Ellen then taught English, speech and theatre arts and, subsequently, retired from Fairfax County, VA. Ellen was honored with a number of awards, including Fairfax County Outstanding Educator; finalist, VA Speech Teacher of the Year, Who s Who in American Education, Who s Who of America, and the esteemed Marquis Who s Who Publications Board s Commendation.
Krause, Richard Alan
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late Herbert and Beatrice Miller Krause.
He attended Temple University School of Medicine; internship and residency at Emory University Hospital; Gastroenterology Fellowships at St Vincent Hospital, MA and Yale University, CT. He served the medical community for over 40 years. He leaves an epic legacy of excellence in his field.
Dr. Krause was a prominent gastroenterologist and owner of The Center for Digestive Disorders from 1977-2006; opened a private endoscopy center in 1998. Dr. Krause retired from his private practice in 2008 to follow his passion in Clinical Research, the founder and Medical Director of ClinSearch, retiring in 2018. Dr. Krause was not only a remarkable and caring provider he was a true visionary always searching for ways to help his patients. Dr. Benjamin Daniel Harnsberger Dr. Benjamin Daniel Harnsberger, 77, of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, was received by his Lord and Savior on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020, surrounded by his wife and children.
Born in Macon, Georgia, he was the son of the late C. Benjamin Harnsberger and Jeannette Wagnon Harnsberger.
Dr. Harnsberger graduated from Emory University in 1964 and then completed medical school at Emory University College of Medicine in 1968. He concluded his medical internship at Emory University, followed by service in the Medical Corps with the United States Navy in Norfolk, Virginia. Following his Pulmonary fellowship at Emory University, he and his family moved to Chattanooga in 1974. He began his medical practice in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care with Parkridge Medical Group - Diagnostic Center, where he found it to be his highest honor and privilege to serve and care for his patients. Daniel Melendez
Daniel Jose Melendez, 83, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, after complications caused by COVID-19.
He was born on April 10, 1937, in Rio Tocuyo, Venezuela where he worked for most of his adult life. He married Irma Rojas in 1957, and together they raised 10 children. In 1988 he emigrated to the United States and later proudly became a naturalized US citizen. He worked many diverse jobs in the Chattanooga area until his retirement in 2005. Even after his retirement he continued to work odd jobs and stayed active enjoying spending time with his numerous family and friends.
