USA TODAY As people across the world are watching the long-awaited Tokyo Olympics, some cities are excited for what future games will bring. The International Olympic Committee already announced its plans for when and where future games will take place, and cities like Paris, Milan, Los Angeles and Beijing are expected to be hosts.  Financially, hosting the games isn t as glamorous as it may seem. According to a 2020 study, the average sports-related cost of hosting the Olympics is $12 billion, whereas non-sports-related costs can be several times that. For this year s games, the Wall Street Journal reported a budget of $15.4 billion, but Japanese government auditors have said total spending tops $20 billion.
