Chancellor of Justice Tuomas Pöysti wants to limit the possibility for MPs to act in two different roles in situations where parliamentary committees discuss the legality of a minister s actions. Last year, Parliament s Constitutional Law Committee investigated Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto‘s (Green) handling of the repatriation of Finnish citizens from the al-Hol displacement camp in northern Syria. Committee members Wille Rydman (NCP) and Heikki Vestman (NCP) were both signatories of the action against Haavisto, and were then subsequently involved in the discussions of the committee. They thus played the dual roles of both complainant and adjudicator in the case.
