MP D Tsogtbaatar represents Mongolia at OSCE Parliamentary Assembly meeting

Within the Annual Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), virtual meeting of the Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions was held on June 30, 2021 with the participation of more than 180 parliamentarians.  At the meeting, the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia was represented by Mr. Tsogtbaatar Damdin, MP and Head of the Mongolian Delegation to the OSCE PA. According to the agenda, the Committee’s report on “Reinforcing Multilateralism in Times of Global Crisis: A Parliamentary Call for Future Action” was presented by the Rapporteur, OSCE PA Vice-President Ms. Kari Henriksen. The report states how human rights and freedom are violated and restricted during the global pandemic, as well as challenges facing to ensure human security, and notes the need for active and multilateral efforts to address them. Strengthening Representative Bodies in Mongolia project board meets

2021-06-28 09:26:51 Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. ‘Strengthening Representative Bodies in Mongolia’ (SRBM) project jointly implemented by SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation), UNDP and the Parliament Secretariat of Mongolia between 2017 and 2021 has successfully reached its completion.  The project board, which consists of the local councils, NGOs, National Academy of Governance and Cabinet Secretariat, in addition to the project implementers, concluded in its last meeting on 21 June 2021 that the project made substantive input to decentralization local autonomy in Mongolia. The project provided technical assistance to the revision of the Law on Administrative and Territorial Units, and Their Governance (LATUG) approved by the Parliament of Mongolia on 24 December 2020.

Mongolia’s ratification and accession to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption on October 7th, 2005, and its commitment to the international community is a major representation of Mongolia’s commitment to the fight against corruption. Under the auspices of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, the Parliament of Mongolia re-enacted the Anti-Corruption law in 2006, thus established The Independent Authority Against Corruption (IAAC).  IAAC is a special, independent government body charged with functions to raise anti-corruption public awareness and education, and corruption prevention activities, and to carry out undercover operations, inquiries, and investigations in detecting corruption crimes, and to review and inspect the assets and income declarations of public officials.
