FG, JUSUN, PASAN in final meeting Friday Olokor, Abuja Friday Olokor, Abuja Published 4 June 2021 The Federal Government is currently holding its last meeting with the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria and Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria with a view to ending the ongoing strike action by the bodies. The unions embarked on the trade dispute following the refusal of governors to implement autonomy for state legislature and judiciary. The meeting which is said to be taking place at the office of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, has in attendance the President of Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba and others.

JUSUN hinged its decision to continue the strike that started on April 6 on the fact that state governors had failed to sign the agreement and begin implementation as expected. The union’s National Treasurer, Jimoh Musa, disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent on Monday. Recall that on May 20, state governors and the leadership of JUSUN and Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria signed an agreement on the modalities and timelines for the commencement of full financial autonomy for state judiciary and legislative arms of government.
