UK focus pivots to Indo-Pacific under major foreign policy restructure17/03/2021|1min The United Kingdom will look to deepen defence cooperation in the Indo-Pacific under a major foreign policy restructure triggered by an integrated review into Britain’s security and defence. The review recommended the country tilt its focus towards the Indo-Pacific region. Speaking to Parliament UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said “we will seek out friends and partners wherever they can be found building a coalition for openness and innovation and engaging more deeply in the Indo-Pacific”. “Our approach will place diplomacy first and the UK has applied to become a dialogue partner of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and we will seek to join the trans-pacific free trade agreement.”
