ISLAMABAD: Briefing the parliamentarians on national security, Kashmir and Afghanistan, the military leadership Thursday said Pakistan will welcome a true representative government in Afghanistan and continue to play a very sincere, positive and responsible role in the Afghan peace process.
The close-door meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security was held at the National Assembly that lasted for over eight hours.
Director General Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed briefed the parliamentarians for over two hours with focus on Afghanistan and regional security scenario.
The meeting jointly chaired by Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani and National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser was attended by 29 members of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security and 16 other parliamentarians including federal ministers and parliamentary leaders.

An in-camera session of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security was held in Islamabad on Thursday in which Inter-Services Intelligence Director General Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed briefed the country s lawmakers on security issues and regional challenges.
He spoke about the situation in the Indian-Occupied Kashmir, the Afghan peace process, and relations with China.
The DG said that Pakistan has played a positive and responsible role in the Afghan peace process. The briefing especially focused on the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and situation in Afghanistan.
Chaired by National Assembly Security Committee Chairman and Speaker National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, the briefing was attended by parliamentary leadership, members of the National Assembly and Senators.
The legislators were told that Pakistan has played a very sincere, positive and responsible role in Afghan peace process.
