COLOMBO, May 18 (Xinhua) Sri Lanka s Parliament Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena on Tuesday announced the Supreme Court s verdict on the Port City Economic Commission Bill to the Parliament.
According to the Supreme Court, the bill requires amendments to bring it further in line with the Sri Lankan constitution. The unamended version of the bill can be passed with a special majority, but with amendments to key clauses a simple majority would suffice, the verdict said.

COLOMBO (News 1st); Colombo (News 1st); Parliament Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena is yet to receive the Supreme Court determination on the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill.
The bill was recently challenged in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
The speaker said the Supreme Court determination is expected on Tuesday (04).
However, if the Supreme Court determination is not received, the debate on the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill scheduled for Wednesday (05) will have to be postponed.

The Chinese defence minister arrived here along with a high-level delegation on Tuesday on a two-day official visit after he made a brief trip to Bangladesh. Had a fruitful discussion with #china defense minister General Wei Fenghe this morning. This visit will further strengthen the ties between two countries, the president tweeted along with photographs of their meeting.
