Bringing ex-Maldivian Prez s attackers to justice top priority IANS 2 days ago © IANS Bringing ex-Maldivian Prez s attackers to justice top priority Male, May 11 (IANS) Maldivian President Ibrahim Solih has said that his top priority is to bring to justice those who launched a terrorist attack on former President and Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed. Speaking at the National Congress of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), of which both Solih and Nasheed are members, the President said on Monday that the former leader is recovering from a 16-hour operation and remains courageous and determined when they spoke, reports Xinhua news agency. Solih was quoted by state-owned PSM News as saying that both the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) had made progress into investigations by questioning three suspects and identifying the improvised explosive device that injured Nasheed last week.

PHOTO: POLICE Nafaahath Ibrahim 09 May 2021, MVT 21:36 The Criminal Court on Sunday remanded three suspects arrested in connection to the terror attack against former President and Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed, for a period of 15 days. Police made the first two, Mujaz Ahmed, 21 and Thahmeen Ahmed 32, in connection to the attack on May 8. The third person, Adhuham Rasheed, 26 was arrested on May 9. The Criminal Court came to this decision on the basis that all three posed danger to the public if they remain loose.

Image Source: IANS News Male, May 9 : Two suspects have been arrested by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) in investigations into a terrorist attack last week that injured former President and Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed, state media reported. State-owned PSM News reported on Saturday that 21-year-old Mujaz Ahmed and 32-year-old Thahumeen Ahmed were arrested in connection to an attack that took place outside Nasheed s residence in Male on May 6, reports Xinhua news agency. Nasheed was admitted to the ADK Hospital, where he underwent multiple life-saving surgeries.
