Civil Court Amendment Bill, 2021 placed in JS 296 SANGSAD BHABAN, Jan 19, 2021 (BSS) – Civil Courts Amendment Bill, 2021 was placed in the Jatiya Sangad aiming to raise the financial jurisdiction of the Judges of the lower court for disposal of civil cases. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haq today placed the bill in the House with Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin SharminChaudhury in the chair. Piloting the bill, the minister said the proposed bill has been placed in the house for amending the previous Civil Courts Act, 1887. Earlier, the cabinet in principle approved the draft of “the Civil Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2021”.

Govt working to incorporate ADR provisions in existing laws: Law Minister The New Nation Staff Reporter : Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq has said that the government is working to incorporate the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) provisions in different existing laws of the country to make commercial dispute resolution easier and less time consuming. In view of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the government under definitive instruction by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has enacted the Use of Information Technology by the Court Act, 2020 to carry out trials through digital means, the minister said. Our judiciary has already started conducting court proceedings via video conferencing. However, we are yet to make progress regarding the virtual form of ADR. Suggested virtual ADR practices can either be based on phone conferences or internet-supported video conferences.

Anisul for disposing of disputes outside court to reduce pending cases 265 File Photo DHAKA, Dec 20, 2020 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today urged the law officers to encourage the litigants and other concerned to follow the ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) system to get rid of pending cases. “About 90 percent of cases in the modern world are being settled outside the ordinary courts . . . the government has introduced the ADR system through which it is possible to reduce the cases,” he told a function virtually here. The law minister was virtually speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the 22nd online special training course for GPs (Government Counselors) and PPs (Public Prosecutors) at the Judicial Administration Training Institute here, said a release this evening.

Judiciary makes outstanding success during peak of Covid-19: Anisul 441 File Photo DHAKA, Dec 18, 2020 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said the country’s judiciary under the leadership of the chief justice has made an outstanding success during the peak of coronavirus (Covid-19). “During the Covid-19 peak, the justices kept running the judicial proceedings by conducting virtual court which has been lauded at the international arena,” he told a discussion marking Bangladesh Supreme Court Day at the apex court’s auditorium here. President Md Abdul Hamid was the chief guest of the discussion. The law minister said the conducting of virtual court revealed the efficiency and capability of the entire judiciary.
