New Delhi, Feb 3 : The Congress on Wednesday cited instances when even the British empire had to withdraw certain laws due to farmers agitation, and asked the government not to confront the farmers as they are the backbone of the country.
Participating in the motion of thanks to the President s Address, leader of opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said, The Congress was with the government in its fight against the enemies like China and Pakistan but confronting farmers is not good.
Ahead of the proposed ‘Bharat Bandh’ on February 6, BKU leader Rakesh Tikait has warned that the farmers protesting against the Centre’s farm laws will hold a massive tractor rally if the government does not concede to their key demands by October. “We have given the government time till October. If they do not listen to us, we will go on a pan-country tractor rally of 40 lakh tractors,” Rakesh Tikait, BKU leader, said.

New Delhi, Feb 3 : Ruckus over the three contentious farm laws continued in the Lok Sabha for the second consecutive day on Wednesday with opposition members raising slogans seeking repeal of these Acts enacted in September last year.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla adjourned the House till 4.30 p.m. within few minutes of it assembling for the day at 4 p.m. The second adjournment was announced till 5 p.m. as the pandemonium continued, and the third adjournment till 7 p.m. A similar scene was witnessed on Tuesday with almost no business transacted.

New Delhi, Feb 3 : The Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday named three Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members Sanjay Singh, N.D. Gupta and Sushil Gupta for causing disruption in the proceeding of the House.
The Chairman exercising the powers named the three MPs and asked them to withdraw from the House as other political parties agreed to discuss the farm laws in the motion of thanks of the President.
