ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Friday approved amendments to Elections Act 2017 that may lead to cancellation of membership of two Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stalwarts former finance minister Ishaq Dar and ex-interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan from the Senate and Punjab Assembly, respectively.

Dawn that there was no formal meeting of the cabinet on Friday; however, the decision was taken by signing a recommendation of the Cabinet Committee on Law by the members through circulation.

ISLAMABAD: Four days after the opposition blocked the government’s move to present a resolution in the National Assembly seeking formation of a parliamentary committee on electoral reforms, Speaker Asad Qaiser on Tuesday invited the opposition parties to have the floor of the house for “unlimited days” to discuss key national issues.
The offer came from the speaker while addressing the District Bar Association (DBA), Swabi, and in a statement issued by the National Assembly Secretariat after his meeting with federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry earlier in the day in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD: The government on Monday abruptly prorogued the National Assembly session even without completing the question hour after failing to meet the requirement of quorum following a noisy protest by the opposition when a minister informed the house that the Prime Minister Office had “dropped” the complaint of a woman alleging harassment to her and her family by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman retired Justice Javed Iqbal.
The opposition, while criticising Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohammad Khan over the reply, lodged a strong protest when Speaker Asad Qaiser refused to refer the matter to a house committee.
Bill tabled in NA to change name of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

MNA Mohsin Dawar has suggested that the province should be named only Pakhtunkhwa.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Member National Assembly (MNA) Mohsin Dawar on Thursday submitted a bill in the National Assembly (NA) to change the name of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Dunya News reported.
Mohsin Dawar said that the province was named Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after the 18th amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan but its full name isn’t being used anywhere and the province is referred to as KP or KPK. He said that the province should be named only Pakhtunkhwa.
