Senate panel cautions against uploading MPs’ asset details on ECP website

ISLAMABAD: Members of the Senate Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs Monday cautioned against uploading of assets details of the legislators on the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) website, saying this could pose risk to their children.
They contended that the measure enables everyone to have access to the internet and “our children will become insecure”. Interestingly, this contention was supported by State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan also.
In this connection, a meeting of the Senate committee was held here at the Parliament House, under the chairmanship of Taj Haider of the PPP to consider the Electoral Amendment Act Bill 2021, and the issue of granting voting rights to Pakistanis abroad.
‘Opposition aiming to destabilise PTI govt’

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said the PTI-led government tried all out efforts to take the opposition into confidence on every important state matter but instead they have been busy in destabilising the government.
“The enemy of the country did not let go any chance to defame the government as they had been busy destroying peace of the country,” he said Tuesday while talking to a private TV
channel.
Talking about Afghan ambassador’s daughter case, he said all the relevant data has been collected from the drivers of the cabs used by envoy’s daughter and soon it would be presented.
RSEZ will prove to be game changer for Peshawar valley, Senate told

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan has said Rashakai Special Economic Zone (RSEZ) will prove to be a game changer for the Peshawar valley.
Replying to questions during question Hour, he said the government is taking numerous initiatives aimed at achieving the country’s developmental goals.
He said the government took effective measures to contain the spread of corona pandemic. He said the construction sector was uplifted during the pandemic which provided support to the country’s economy.
He said the government’s Ehsaas program is also significantly contributing in the alleviation of poverty and the program has been successful in improving the living standard of the underprivileged segment of the society during the corona pandemic.

ISLAMABAD: The opposition uproar and walkout in the Senate on Friday marred the proceedings, as the government managed to push through five bills, taking advantage of the opposition senators’ limited presence in the House.
PPP parliamentary leader Sherry Rehman strongly agitated against the taking up of supplementary agenda and insisted the bills passed after voting on the two bills listed on the orders of the day was a bulldozed legislation, having no value.
After the question hour on the last day of the current session, the opposition opposed FATF-related the Mutual Legal Assistance (Criminal Matters) (Amendment) Bill, 2021 when Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani sought the leave of the House to allow introduction of the bill.
