MP for Madina Constituency, Lawyer Francis-Xavier Sosu Member of Parliament (MP) for Medina Constituency, Lawyer Francis-Xavier Sosu, has called on President Akufo-Addo to be proactive in the fight against corruption and to “desist from fighting anti-corruption institutions and the use of security apparatus to intimidate independent journalists who seek to expose corruption in the performance of their duties.” The call was in response to President Akufo-Addo’s remarks and actions over the years pertaining to the fight against corruption in the country. On Wednesday April 14, 2021, Pesident Akufo-Addo, speaking at a National Consultative Diaglogue on Small-Scale Mining indicated that he is determined to “enforce the laws on illegal mining no matter the subject, high or low.”

South Dayi MP accuses National Security operatives of Rambo style arrest of journalist David Tamakloe By CitiNewsRoom 16 HOURS AGO A member of the Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Committee of Parliament, Rockson Dafeamekpor is accusing the police of abuse of powers in the “Rambo style” arrest of a journalist, Mr David Tamakloe. Mr. Tamakloe was allegedly arrested at gunpoint by National Security operatives on Thursday over claims of false publication and taken to the Airport police station. In an interview with Citi News, Mr. Dafeamekpor, who is also the Member of Parliament for South Dayi said the action by officials to arrest and detain the journalist until after Monday, is inhumane and smacks of abuse of police powers.
