Rock Steady Boxing program helps locals fight Parkinson s

When most people think about treating a health condition such as Parkinson’s disease, they probably don’t think about boxing, but one local gym is proving that non-combat boxing workouts can make a difference in the lives of people battling Parkinson’s.  “Before my wife found Rock Steady Boxing, I was stationary and it was really bad,” said U.S. Navy veteran Cameron Brooks, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2007. “They categorized me as a two, then I got to do Rock Steady Boxing and went back down to a one. For Parkinson s people, that’s a big accomplishment.”
