Manchester City’s Chloe Kelly sustained an ACL injury to her right knee in Sunday’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture.
After scoring a first-half brace against Birmingham City, Kelly then won a penalty after a challenge by Rebecca Holloway, which ended up in the England international being carried off on a stretcher.
Now confirmed as an anterior cruciate ligament injury, this will keep her out of the game for an extended period.
Kelly contributed ten goals and eleven assists to the Cityzens ongoing WSL title bid this season.

Chelsea went back to the top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League with a 2-0 midweek win away to Spurs.
Spurs keeper Becky Spencer made several saves, including a couple from Sophie Ingle and one to deny Drew Spence, while the hosts’ Rianna Dean didn’t make the best of a good position and Lucy Quinn forced Ann-Katrin Berger into a smart block at the near post.
ENGLAND and Manchester City forward Chloe Kelly has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, her club have announced.
The 23-year-old sustained the knee injury in Sunday’s 4-0 Women’s Super League (WSL) victory over Birmingham at the Academy Stadium, in which she scored twice.
The news that Kelly, a WSL player of the season nominee, is set for “an extended spell” out of action comes with Great Britain’s squad for the summer’s Tokyo Olympics to be named later this month.
Manchester City said in a statement: “Chloe Kelly is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering an ACL injury to her right knee in Sunday’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Birmingham City.
