STATELINE, Nev. (AP) - A California man who almost drowned at a Lake Tahoe resort on Monday night has been discharged from the hospital, local emergency management officials said.
At the Mont Bleu Resort Casino and Spa in Stateline, Nevada, security guards Mike Griffin and Chris Rehn dove into 9-foot deep indoor pool to retrieve 25-year-old Charanverr Singh of Fairfield, California. They proceeded to resuscitate him poolside while waiting for ambulances to arrive, Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District spokesman Eric Guevin said.
Jan. 21 California is weeks into a mass vaccination campaign to bring an end to the COVID-19 pandemic, administering tens of thousands of shots a day. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Thursday that California had administered 1,633,875 of the nearly 4.4 million doses allocated by the federal government through Wednesday. That's 4,135 doses for every 100,000 .
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With five different counties in two different states surrounding Lake Tahoe, there are different procedures concerning COVID-19 vaccines depending on which area one resides. As more doses of the vaccine become available, each county is in charge of its own vaccination rollout.
EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Now that the COVID-19 vaccine rollout is moving through the official phases and tiers, a vaccine list has been start for those who are able to respond to a Placerville or South Lake Tahoe Public Health Office within 30-60 minutes of getting an alert.
Since the vaccines have a short life outside of refrigeration, once a vial of ten is opened it needs to be used right away. If the health department is administering the vaccines and have extra, they will notify those on the alert list, no matter what phase or tier that person happens to be in. This is to prevent any waste of vaccines as other regions have experienced.
El Dorado County officials on Thursday reported that two more residents have died due to the coronavirus.
Both of the residents were men 65 years of age or older, one was from Diamond Springs, El Dorado area and the other is from El Dorado Hills, officials said.
There are 39 people hospitalized, including 10 in intensive care units.
Officials announced 69 new cases and 163 assumed recoveries shrinking the active count to 1,614.
CALIFORNIA
As California statewide remains in the limited stay at home order, the greater Sacramento region remains in the regional order.
As of Wednesday, Jan. 6, El Dorado County, which is part of the Sacramento region, had an ICU capacity of 11.1%, slightly down from 11.7% on Tuesday.
