The Cape Cod COVID-19 Response Task Force has scheduled a Wednesday phone briefing for Cape Codders over 65 to discuss vaccination access. The call comes in response to mounting concerns about the phase two rollout.
The task force also said residents can now sign up for email notifications (see below) to receive 24-hour advance notice when a Barnstable County COVID-19 clinic is opening for registration. The phone briefing will be held through a phone conferencing service that will proactively call the home phone numbers for approximately 50,000 Cape Codders over 65 to join the call just before it begins on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., task force communications director Geoff Spillane said in a press release.

HYANNIS Barnstable County officials announced Friday that registration is now open for a regional drive-thru vaccination clinic being held Thursday at the Cape Cod Melody Tent.
People eligible for the clinic must live and work in Barnstable County and be either in phase one of the vaccination schedule or be in the top priority group in phase two, which is people age 75 years and up.
Barnstable County officials said people can register for appointments at http://www.maimmunizations.org if the clinic is not visible on the state map at mass.gov/COVIDVaccineMap.
There are 375 slots available, and county officials expect them to fill up quickly.
People have also found that scheduling an appointment to get vaccinated is next to impossible.
On a positive note, Cape Cod Healthcare president and chief executive officer Michael K. Lauf said vaccinated healthcare workers in his organization are staying healthy. He said last week was the first week since the start of the pandemic that no employees were out sick with the virus.
The rate of new cases of the disease have started to slow; still, more people on Cape Cod have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in January than were diagnosed in the first eight months of the pandemic combined. Additionally, nearly 30 percent of all of the countyâs deaths from the virus have happened over the course of the past month.
