/ The Cape Cod COVID-19 task force would like to see 75 percent of Cape residents vaccinated with at least one dose by Memorial Day. Cape Cod’s COVID-19 task force has set a goal to get 75 percent of Cape residents vaccinated with at least one dose by Memorial Day. That means reaching another 11 percent of the population. State Senator Julian Cyr, the task force spokesman, said the job ahead will be harder than reaching people who were more eager to get the vaccine. “We were seeing double-digit jumps week-to-week in vaccination rates, and that has slowed a bit,” he said. “So we ve got our work cut out for us, but we are doing everything we can.”

COVID test is positive for second Steamship ferry employee this week

FALMOUTH For the second time this week, an employee of the Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority has tested positive for COVID-19.  A vessel employee assigned to the M/V Martha’s Vineyard tested positive for the virus following a watch that began on a noon trip Wednesday to Vineyard Haven and ended with the vessel’s 11:30 a.m. arrival in Woods Hole on Thursday, according to a release from the Authority.  After receiving the positive test result on Friday, the employee immediately notified the Authority, the release said.  The Authority is not disclosing the employee’s name or position within the company to ensure their private health information remains confidential. 

No interruptions to service anticipated after Steamship Authority employee tests positive for COVID-19

FALMOUTH An employee assigned to the M/V Eagle at the Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority tested positive for COVID-19 Wednesday, the authority said in a statement. The employee last worked on the M/V Eagle serving the Nantucket/Hyannis route on the watch that began with the 2:45 p.m. trip April 17. The watch ended with the vessel’s 2:15 p.m. arrival in Hyannis on April 18, the authority said.  The employee subsequently felt ill and took a COVID-19 test, which came back positive April 21. It is not believed that the employee had any prolonged exposure to any member of the public during their shift, the authority said.
