HYANNIS A Hyannis man was arrested Tuesday morning after police found explosive materials at a group home on Baxter Road.
Dorian Firth, 40, was arrested and charged with one count of felony possession of incendiary materials and one count of felony possession of an incendiary device, according to Barnstable police Lt. Mark Cabral.

At approximately 6 a.m., police responded to 119 Baxter Road for a report of a resident who had an explosive device on the premises, Barnstable police said in a statement.
After moving everyone to safety, officers were able to identify an explosive device in a bedroom at the residence, and applied for a warrant to search the house. After all evidentiary recording and sampling was completed, the device and remaining incendiary materials were detonated in a controlled environment by the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad, police said in the statement.
BARNSTABLE A 40-year-old Hyannis man charged with possession of explosives was found to be competent to stand trial during a dangerousness hearing Wednesday in Barnstable District Court.
Dorian Firth pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Tuesday to one charge of secreting/throwing/launching/placing explosives and one charge of possession of explosives.
Firth s lawyer said his client was using the explosives to make homemade fireworks, not a bomb.
