International Women s Day 2021: Women in leadership, achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 World

Statement by the Barbados Nurses Association to mark International Women’s Day 2021 Being in the leadership roles of Nursing Officer and an Executive Member of the Professional Nurses Association, I reflect on my earlier years and some foundation lessons that stayed with me, such as to work hard for everything I want and to challenge and push boundaries because nothing is handed to you. As I grew older, I accepted that it is okay to be different from the crowd, but you must be strong enough to carry your own weight and the weight of the world, if you are going to challenge the system. It is a lesson that came with many tears and pain but very effective in developing the woman that I am today.

Association says nurses are hurting over COVID-19 death of colleague

Barbados Nurses Association (BNA) Nurses who have been impacted by the unfortunate death of one of their colleagues, who succumbed to COVID-19, need help coping mentally and emotionally. The Barbados Nurses Association (BNA) is joining with its members to extend condolences to the family of the deceased, who passed away after nine days at the Harrison Point Facility. Her death was announced officially by the Health and Wellness Minister Lt Col Jeffrey Bostic this morning (February 15).
