A senior attorney-at-law says politics is behind some recently proposed legislation which in his view, is aimed at jailing more accused in an environment in which crime is on the rise.
That is the view of Queen’s Counsel, Andrew Pilgrim, who said not only is the move “political” but it is also a knee-jerk reaction to the country’s high crime levels.
Pilgrim, made the comments as a panelist on today’s webinar hosted by the Barbados Bar Association on the
Criminal Justice Bill and Judge-only Trials.
