Santa Barbara County reports additional death related to COVID-19, 151 total deaths
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. Santa Barbara County Public Health reported an additional death related to COVID-19 on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Public Health reported another death related to COVID-19, this makes the total at 151 deaths in the County.
The individual was over 70 years old with underlying medical conditions. They lives in the unincorporated areas of Goleta.
Their death was associated with an outbreak at a congregate facility.
There were a total of 221 new cases on Wednesday. 113 of those cases are hospitalized with 22 people currently in the ICU.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. Santa Barbara County Public Health leaders rescheduled Friday s virtual press conference to Tuesday to make sure people get the information they need before Christmas.
Supervisor Gregg Hart served as moderator.
Panelists included Public Health Officer Henning Ansorg, M.D., and Suzanne Grimmesey from the Department of Behavioral Health.
Dr. Ansorg said vaccines offer a glimmer of hope.
Since frontline health workers and people in care facilities are being vaccinated first, others with lung conditions or a cancer history should contact their primary care physicians to ask about getting vaccinated in 2021.
Santa Barbara County reports first COVID-related death in a minor
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - Santa Barbara County Public Health reported two new coronavirus-related deaths on Friday, one of which was in a minor between the ages of 12 and 17.
The department said the minor was a Santa Maria resident and had underlying health conditions. This marks the first pediatric death related to COVID-19 in the county.
The second person who died was a Lompoc resident in their 70s who also had underlying conditions.
Neither of these deaths were related to outbreaks at a congregate care facility.
These individuals bring the total number of deaths in the county to 147. There were 186 new cases identified on Friday.
