Author: WQAD Digital Team Updated: 4:19 PM CDT May 4, 2021 The Quad Cities COVID-19 Coalition, which is made up of a group of local health care professionals, said the average age of patients being hospitalized with COVID-19 has dropped.  Younger people being hospitalized Amy Thoreson with the Scott County Public Health Department said the average age of those becoming infected is 33 years old.   Dr. Tim Olutade, the Chief Medical Officer at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, said at the end of March into early April the average age of patients being admitted to the hospital was 36, which was down from the previous average age of 60.

Thousands of adults have passed through the Camden Centre in Milan, Illinois over the last few months to receive their COVID-19 shots. Now, children ages 12 to 15 are on the cusp of also being able to stop through and get the Pfizer vaccine. Janet Hill with the Rock Island County Health Department says they’ll start the vaccinations of that younger group as soon as they receive the green light from the federal government. “There’s no reason to hesitate. The health department will be able to vaccinate as soon as the federal government says it’s okay.”
