EU-funded project to combat gender-based violence launches in Somalia Format Trócaire, the European Union and our local partner SEDHURO have marked International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation by launching a new project to combat Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in the Belet Hawa and Luuq districts of the Gedo region in Somalia. The two-year project (2021-2022) aims at creating a safe environment for women and girls, free from SGBV, while promoting access to their rights. It has two main components: behaviour change interventions to abandon Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), and empowerment of community actors and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for sustainable change.

(Monrovia, Liberia, January 31, 2020) The Inter-Ministerial Taskforce on Sexual Gender-Based Violence (ITSGBV) which has the mandate to engage all SGBV stakeholders and direct prevention and response programming on ending Sexual Gender-Based Violence by 2022 has held its preliminary second quarter meeting ndash; the first meeting of 2021.

305 days of the COVID-19 Lockdown, and as of 27 January 2020, the Ministry of Health and Child Care reported that the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases increased to 32 304 after 300 new cases were reported All are local cases, of which the highest case tally was recorded in Harare at 104. We note that the hospitalisation rate on the 27 th  January 2021 went down to 205 hospitalised cases, 127 mild to moderate cases, 65 severe cases and 13 cases in Intensive Care Units. Active cases went up to 7 495. The total number of recoveries went up to 23 687 following 274 recoveries. The recovery rate stands at 73.2%. The death toll has risen to 1 122 after 19 new deaths were recorded.

297 days of the COVID Lockdown and as of 19 January 2020, the Ministry of Health and Child Care reported that, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases increased to 28 675, after 783 new cases were reported. All are local cases, of which 251 cases are from Harare alone while Mashonaland West continues to be the province with the second highest new case tally of 120 cases. Active cases have gone down to 9 740 cases after 738 new recoveries were recorded. This bring the total number of recoveries to 18 110. Liberia: FIND Intensifies Support to SGBV Victims in Montserrado Liberia: FIND Intensifies Support to SGBV Victims in Montserrado FIND Executive Director, Mr. Aaron G.V. Juakollie GBARNGA – The Foundation for International Dignity (FIND), with support from United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), has launched a new project in Montserrado County. According to a press release issued by  FIND under the signature of its Executive Director, Mr. Aaron G.V. Juakollie,  the purpose of the project is to  strengthen the One -Stop Center in a bid to provide comprehensive integrated services to Sexual Gender Based Violence(SGBV) Survivors in Montserrado County.   Under the title: “STRENGTHENING THE RULE OF LAW IN LIBERIA: JUSTICE SECURITY FOR THE LIBERIAN PEOPLE”, the project is in the tone of US$ 39,433.00(Thirty Nine Thousand Four Thirty Three Dollars).
