Raymond Mongan TWO paedophiles who preyed on vulnerable boys living in a Newcastle orphanage have been brought to justice more than 50 years after carrying out their abuse. As a young man, Raymond Mongan was a seemingly respected teacher who spent weekends volunteering at St Vincent’s Orphanage. But during the course of his volunteer work, Mongan abused his position of trust and preyed on those in his care. An initial report was made to police decades later by one victim in 2002, but at the time there was insufficient evidence to pursue a prosecution. In 2016, a second victim came forward and was able to give the names of other potential victimsand the investigation progressed.
Police have arrested a 70-year-old man accused of raping a seven-year-old girl in Jigawa State.
The suspect, Ibrahim Nasaleh, is said to have committed the offence in Kiyawa Local Government Area of the state.
Mr Zubairu Ismail, who is the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, confirmed the arrest of Nasaleh to Channels Television on Thursday.
He noted that the suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged by the mother of the victim at a police station.
According to the command’s spokesman, the victim was rushed to the Sexual Assault and Referral Centre in Dutse, the state capital.

REGIONAL A MAN has been arrested in connection with a series of sexual assaults in Trafford. Between last Tuesday and Sunday police received seven separate reports of sexual assaults centred on canal and river towpaths in the borough. In each report, the offender has approached the victim from behind on a mountain bike, before touching them inappropriately while riding past.
The incidents reported are: 6.20pm on March 3 on Bridgewater Canal, Sale. 9.20am on March 6 on Bridgewater Canal, Sale. 4.50pm on March 6 on Bridgewater Way, Old Trafford. 6.20pm on March 6 on Little Ees Lane, Sale. 6.45pm on March 6 on River Mersey. Specific location currently unknown.
