Address Confidentiality Available for Sexual Assault Survivors – Mix 107 3 KIOW

AJ Taylor3 hours agoLast Updated: April 21, 2021 April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Secretary of State Paul Pate is reminding Iowans that address confidentiality is available for those needing an extra layer of protection. Iowa’s Safe at Home program provides a substitute address for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, trafficking, and stalking. The program is administered by the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office. One in five women and one in 38 men have experienced rape or attempted rape in their lifetime, according to the CDC. Last year in Iowa, there were nearly 3,000 convictions for sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking. It is an issue in all 99 counties.

Town hall covers process of filing sexual assault reports

ASWSU hosted a town hall Thursday for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, educating individuals on how to file assault reports and what the process looks like. Resource centers on campus, like the WSU Office of Compliance and Civil Rights, help students file sexual assault complaints and reports. The process can be daunting, and having a step-by-step walkthrough about how to file reports is helpful, said Joel Aleman, director of University Affairs. “It’s one of those things where students are often very nervous about not knowing what to expect,” he said. It is easy to file different reports through CCR’s website, whether that be a document of concern or an informal or formal report, CCR assistant director Daniel Records said.

Station One Center for the Arts partners with YWCA Lancaster for Jam for S A A M virtual event Saturday

In accordance with Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Station One Center for the Arts is presenting a baker s dozen of Lancaster city s best artists to raise some money for the cause. The Jam for S.A.A.M. event, which will stream at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, is in conjunction with YWCA Lancaster and will benefit the YWCA s Sexual Assault Prevention & Counseling Center. Performances have been pre-recorded and run anywhere from five to 20 minutes each. Artists featured include Big Boy Brass, Corey OO, Jess AF, Thunda Khat, Worldwide Wednesday, Vito, Stillflow, Plynth, Laddie Moran, Dominique Jordan, Yo Bull Pnut, Blanc and Snyder and Tymira Pearson.

OPSU Bringing Awareness to Sexual Assault Awareness Month Panhandle State Communications on 04/23/2021 April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (#SAAM), and OPSU organizations are bringing awareness in a multitude of ways. OPSU will be hosting a #SAAM Safe Project safety event on April 27 at 7:00 pm. A sexual assault victim s advocate and survivor from the Northwest Domestic Crisis Services, Inc. in Guymon, will speak to students about her experience and empowerment. After the event, the group of students will walk around campus with staff to identify areas that students feel safe or unsafe and discuss ideas that OPSU can do to improve safety on campus.
