With the pandemic causing isolation, Christina Giuliano, the Blue Ridge Autism Achievement Center executive director, said individuals with special needs are more prone to face social skill challenges. “So this is an opportunity to get our students and individuals back out there, back at camp,” she said. “Learning those skills and socialization.”

The Oregon State University Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) participated in the annual Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) Chalk It Up For Awareness contest hosted by the Naval Station Everett SAPR Team, April 17. This contest is held every April as part of the Navy’s Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM) programs and is used to educate and raise awareness about sexual assault through sidewalk chalk art. Three NROTC midshipmen and two NROTC “Beaver Battalion” Officer Candidates collaborated on the chalk art design outside of the unit’s facility. “This event was important to me because it is a way to start conversations about the reality that sexual assault happens,” said Officer Candidate Brooke Konstanczer. “It is my hope that these conversations can bring awareness and aid in prevention efforts to stop sexual assault while also bringing courage and strength to victims in knowing that they

(TNN) - Marie Detty New Directions is spreading the word to educate the community on consent, rape and sexual assault for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Every 73 seconds an American is sexually assaulted. Not every victim tells their story for different reasons. It could be fear, embarrassment or shame. Latricia Kippers from New Directions said we can start changing the stigma by believing survivors. “It’s important to believe survivors,” she said. “It’s important to believe that person and do everything that you can to get them connected with services, whether it’s reporting it to law enforcement, getting them to the hospital to get checked out.”
