Taipei, Dec. 29 (CNA) Taiwan s Legislature on Tuesday passed an amendment to a law on sexual harassment to expand the penalty to same-sex perpetrators.
Under the amended act, verbal sexual harassment is punishable by a fine of up to NT$6,000 (US$213.25), regardless of the perpetrator and victim s gender.
Prior to the Legislature s passage of the amendment bill Tuesday, Article 83 of the Social Maintenance Order Act listed the NT$6,000 maximum fine only in cases where the harassment, in the form obscene words or actions, was directed at someone of the opposite sex.
