The event is hosted by Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia, D-Coachella, through a partnership with the Desert Healthcare District, Coachella Valley Equity Collaborative, Rite Aid and College of the Desert. “Vaccination is our line of defense against COVID-19, and we must continue to motivate all eligible community members to get vaccinated as quickly as possible, Garcia said in a prepared statement.  It was important for us to hold this event later in the day to ensure accessibility to those working or going to school who have not had the opportunity to get vaccinated.

Palm Springs Unified students can get Pfizer vaccine at Cathedral City clinics

Clinics will take place at the following locations: James Workman Middle School: 69-300 30th Ave., Cathedral City; noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday Cathedral City High School: 69250 Dinah Shore Drive, Cathedral City; noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday The 12- to 15-year-old age group became eligible for the vaccine on May 13. To receive their vaccine, students will need: a form of identification (student ID card is valid); completed consent form; insurance card, if applicable; and a parent/guardian present if the student is younger than 18. Appointments are not necessary, but strongly encouraged, according to a flyer. To register for an appointment, visit myturn.ca.gov.

More efforts in the Coachella Valley are being taken to get more students vaccinated Monday, Desert Healthcare District, Desert Care Network, and Palm Springs Unified School District will begin providing COVID-19 vaccines to thousands of students. Starting Monday and continuing through Wednesday, vaccination clinics will be held on different campuses throughout the Coachella Valley. The Pfizer vaccine will be the shot available since the Food and Drug Administration approved emergency use of this vaccine to children ages 12-15.
