Prickly Pear Land Trust gathers volunteers to chop wood for those in need Alexie Aguayo and last updated 2021-03-13 21:27:50-05 HELENA â The Prickly Pear Land Trust has partnered with the Rocky Mountain Development Council (RMDC) to provide a resource to the community. Different generations of tree-cutting tools have gathered at Tenmile Creek Park for a day of chopping wood to bring warmth to the community. âThis is a community partnership between a lot of different entities to provide free firewood to low income folks or people who have disabilities that make it difficult for them to get firewood, says John Beaver, Prickly Pear Land Trust Board President and Church Leader at St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Mabel Marie Davis

On Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, Mabel Marie âMammawâ Davis left this world and met a host of her family and friends, who she gracefully outlived, at the gates of Heaven. Mammaw, as she was so affectionately known, was born May 10, 1921, to Hugh and Mary Ann Yearby. She graduated from Floyd High School in 1936, where she played basketball and was voted âbest all-around girlâ her senior year. She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play all sports, the Atlanta Braves and the Arkansas Razorbacks. In 1939, she married the love of her life, Albert âHumpâ Davis, who passed away after 47 years of marriage. Marie had two daughters, Kathy Taylor and Theresa (Mike) Hurley; four grandchildren, Leigh Anne (Mike) Hawthorne, Mac (Holly) Hurley, Chris (Bobbi) Taylor and Holli (Jeremiah) Love; and seven great-grandchildren, Andrew (Maegan) Hawthorne, Griffin Love, Madison Taylor, Easton Hurley, Connor Love, Ryan Taylor and Gracen Hurley.
