Jim Harbaugh will reportedly remain at Michigan.
Nick Baumgardner of The Athletic reported Thursday that Harbaugh is expected to sign a five-year contract to remain the head coach at Michigan, a deal that will keep him in Ann Arbor through the 2026
season.
The deal carries an expected base salary of $4 million but could double with incentives, per Baumgardner.
News of an extension should come as no surprise, as Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports reported on Jan. 2 that the school was optimistic an extension would be reached.
Harbaugh has compiled a 49-22
record over the course of six seasons in Ann Arbor.

Federal prosecutors on Thursday filed their first charges stemming from Wednesday’s riot at the Capitol, charging one man with assaulting a police officer and another with illegally possessing a loaded handgun.
Both criminal complaints were filed in Federal District Court in Washington. The city’s Metropolitan Police Department had announced earlier that they had arrested nearly 70 people at the riot on charges that included unlawful entry, gun possession and assault. So much happened in such a small amount of time.
The previous statement rings true whether discussing the ongoing global pandemic, professional sports or, more specifically, the NFL draft. What happened a year ago seems so long ago yet serves as a learning experience for what comes next.
Now, think back to a year ago.
LSU s Joe Burrow emerged as the consensus No. 1 overall pick despite not being considered a first-round talent prior to the start of his historic Heisman-winning campaign. No one knew if Alabama s Tua Tagovailoa would be able to play football again, let alone become a top-five selection.
